ArtZone Video is Streaming!

We had such a fantastic afternoon at the ArtZone TV taping the other day! They treated us like kings from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, with hugs all around, our own personal green-room, and the best part: cheese! And I must say they run a professional and tight ship, and we’re honored to be on the show. Big thanks to Nancy, Sheila, Travis and Greg. Click here to watch the show.

JPQ on ArtZone TV Thursday at 8pm

As mentioned in an earlier post, the JPQ is excited to be the featured performer on Nancy Guppy’s program ArtZone on the Seattle Channel. We’ll be featured on the the episode that airs on Comcast Cable channel 21 at 8:00pm this Thursday, March 5th. They rebroadcast the show all weekend long if you miss the premiere, and it will be available to stream on the web at Seattle Channel.org. Tune in to hear my original tune “Bashert” and snippets of our take on “One Mint Julep”.

Here we are after the taping with Nancy:

Be a Part of the New Jason Parker Quartet CD

The recording process for the new Jason Parker Quartet CD is complete! Josh, Evan, D’Vonne and I spent a wonderful day at MOUSe Studios in Seattle in April and laid down the 7 tracks for the new album. We were also joined by Cynthia Mullis on saxophone for 3 of the tunes and I can’t wait for you to hear how beautiful it all turned out! I’m shooting for a release in late-June or early-July.

But you can pre-order your copy of the CD today! Every pre-order will receive their copy one week before the release to the public. Read on for information on how you can also receive bonus goodies.

I am financing this record in all the usual ways: my own money, grant money, the kindness of friends, etc. But I’ve decided to try something new this time around: micropatronage.

Micropatronage is a system in which the public directly supports the work of others by making donations through the Internet. It relies on the premise that it is easier to find many “patrons” to donate small amounts, rather than a small number of patrons making larger contributions.

To entice you to become a patron, I have come up with some packages that are all unique to this program. Once the CD is complete it will be sold through all the usual channels, but none of these packages will be available after the release date. It is my hope that you will find one of them interesting enough to be willing to donate a small amount of your hard-earned money to help me complete this project.

I’ve set up PayPal buttons to make it easier, but if you’d rather send a check just scroll down to the end of the post and you’ll find the mailing address.

Slava! Ukrainian Carols in February?

slavapostersmallMy good friend Michael Owcharuk put together a wonderful and ambitious project called Slava! Ukrainian Carols and New Christmas Music that was snowed out during the big storm last December. We rehearsed it and were ready to go, and everyone was disappointed when we had to call it. Thankfully, the composers and musicians involved all agreed that the music was too good to go unheard, and Mike decided to put on the concert anyway. So breakout the eggnog and the mistletoe, because Christmas is coming again in February!

The reschedule concert will take place this Friday, February 27th at Trinity Church on First Hill in Seattle. Come hear new arrangements of traditional Ukrainian Carols and brand new Christmas music by seven of Seattle’s finest composers, played by seven of Seattle’s finest musicians. Oh, and its free!
